11/06/2026Here it goes!!! Please make reservations. The spot is over 300yrs old and still popping. We were seated down in the basement which also limits service. SO MAKE ALL YOUR CALLS BEFORE AND MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!! The experience is great makes it feel like your in the stone age. I had the baby pork which was so tender it felt like you could spread it on bread. Also remember to tell the waiter to bring butter if not you will be eating dry bread. Thw croquetas are chicken and pork also great tasting. The wife filete de ternera she gave it a 4.5 out 5. We topped it off with a coffee which was great. Price for 6 came out to €218 with tip. Would I do it again.. well if im in the mood for tender pork yaaa.

11/06/2026Book far in advance, reservation required. Very old building but that’s part of its charm. Get their specialty, suckling pig and roasted lamb. The suckling pig was super tender, meat fall off the bones. There’s no special seasoning so if you like heavy flavoring, it might not be to your taste. If you like simple seasoning and ingredients, the suckling pig is definitely the star of the meal.

05/06/2026We got there at 10pm and had reservations. Staff were not very friendly, and the food was bland. The garlic shrimp didn’t taste of garlic at all. The drinks were delicious, but that was the only good thing about the meal. The restaurant itself is cool to see, but not worth eating there and paying for overpriced bland food.

03/06/2026This is my wishlist restaurant (Thanks to Mark Weins) and oh boy it is beyond expectation. That suckling pig is MAGNIFICENT! And that ice cream with chocolate sauce, despite its plain and simple look, but it is indeed really good. And I have to mention the service. It is top notch ; the sequence of service and friendliness of our waiter is superb. His timing is perfect. Of course, the price is quite high, but it is totally worth it. Advance reservation is recommended but weare lucky to be able to walk in and have a table outside at the terrace which is warm and nice.

03/06/2026To walk into Botin is to, quite simply, enter a different world. Here is the Spain of your dreams. Leave the hustle and bustle of the modern world and enjoy Old Spain. Serving food since 1725 it truly deserves its reputation as being Spain's most famous restaurant. The people who serve you love their work. You are welcomed as family. The food and wine lists are exceptional. I have never gone to Madrid without dining at the Great Botin. Reservatios a must. Joseph Distler former owner of Riverrun Restaurant Tribeca's first. NYC

01/06/2026Definitely an experience. We tried the pig and the lamb. Both great, crispy skin with juicy meat. We also got some sides but they were not great. I would stick to what they are known for. I would also recommend getting the desserts. We got the crema catalan and basque cheesecake. We had a reservation for 1 pm and there was quite a line outside about 15 minutes before. By the time we finished the line was gone. We saw a lot of groups of 4 getting the whole pig and none of them could finish it. It seems better suited for groups for 6+. Make a reservation early, i looked 2-2.5 months ahead and a lot of options were not available. A lot of tour groups come through here do that is probably why.
Joseph Charles Cruel
01/06/2026Food is ok - and service can be improved due to high traffic and heritage of the restaurants- staff are not customer service oriented. Arrived early for the reservation and sarcastically answered by the staff “ what time is it”? so its early😞 Desserts is 5 star 👍👏 highly recommend Cheesecake👏👏👏 if you are going in a walking food tour- that is already ok to have the story of Botin. You are not missing out on the food experience.

01/06/2026Deeply disappointing. The anticipation of eating at Madrid’s oldest restaurant (famous for its wood-fired oven that has supposedly burned continuously for more than 300 years) made the experience all the more frustrating. The history is impressive; the food is not. The suckling pig was a major letdown. Rather than being tender, succulent, and juicy, it was dry, tough, and chewy. The roast lamb was no better, suffering from the same lack of texture and flavour. The garlic soup was bland and forgettable. The calamari arrived drenched in oil, poorly cooked, and sloppily presented. The steak was the only dish that met expectations, and the sangria was perfectly enjoyable. The atmosphere was acceptable, and the waiters did their job. Beyond that, this restaurant feels like a business trading almost exclusively on its reputation and history. Thousands of tourists arrive expecting a memorable culinary experience and are served food that would struggle to stand out in an average neighbourhood restaurant. A 300-year-old oven is an impressive piece of history, but history alone cannot carry a restaurant. This was tourism disguised as gastronomy; a textbook tourist trap. If the kitchen put as much effort into the food as it does into marketing its heritage, the experience might finally live up to the legend.

01/06/2026The experience was great, the food is ok Loved the history, but this place is super touristy. Got iberico ham, white asparagus, Botin salad, and half a suckling pig. It was all good, but just not great. Definitely a must do to experience the oldest restaurant in the world, but won’t be back.
Tara Rumpler
01/06/2026We had an amazing lunch here! Our server was so sweet and patient with us and our limited language skills. The food was mucho delicioso! We had the suckling, lamb and sirloin. The sangria was also some of the best that we had in Madrid. Make a reservation as soon as you book your trip as they book up quickly. Lunch service was as good as if it were dinner service, but with a slightly less chaotic atmosphere.

31/05/2026Waited at the queue for about 20 mins, we found a table outside , as all were reserved inside. Probably being Wednesday counted a lot. We had suckling pork and suckling lamb, their specialties, with Botin salad and black sausage. The specialties were tasty but nothing remarkable, with the salad being totally blunt. The sausage on the other hand was phenomenal, in such degree that we had a second portion as well. Considering that is a legendary European restaurant, overall was great experience.

29/05/2026We waited months for this reservation and it did not disappoint! We love visiting the oldest restaurant in any country we travel to so Botin was a must! I don’t know if the lack of carbs and veggies was authentic to the time period of the menu curation or if we were so excited we forgot to order sides but every bite was delicious. We really appreciated the extra birthday cake and patrons participating! A must visit….

29/05/2026I wouldn't order their menu. The most amount of garlic soup I've ever eaten. Lord knows they can half the portion. Their suckling pig was nothing to rave about. Ungodly heavy, but quite a tender meat. If you like deeply fatty foods, you'll enjoy it. I will add this, their cheese cake was top 5 of my life, if not number 1. If only I had space to enjoy it. Staff also quite nice. May return for cheesecake.

28/05/2026Is it the best restaurant in the world? No. Is it actually even the oldest restaurant in the world? Who knows. It is pretty freaking old and the food is really good. It's definitely a place probably geared to tourists, but like Katz's deli in New York, sometimes the tourist spots are really great. The set menu is perfect for 1 person. 28/05/2026What a great experience. Oldest restaurant in the world. Food was good, service was excellent, atmosphere does not get any better. Reservations are impossible to get. We emailed asking for something, and they responded quickly telling us we could come at 5:00 pm, as long as we finished by 6:30 (easy to do with the fast and efficient service). Reasonable prices and many choices on the menu. You do not have to get the suckling pig (their speciality). I had chicken and my wife had sole, both were excellent.

26/05/2026I couldn’t find reservation so we just walked in , and we got a table which was nice surprise, as I was so excited to try the oldest restaurant in the world and they are celebrating there 300 years anniversary I had very high expectation for this restaurant as I read the history and a lot of promises about the experience. However, the food was very, very average. And pricey for the quality nothing was special about the dishes. I had excellent experiences in Madrid. Every single dish we have can easily be done by any sous Chef ! So disappointing There wasn’t any touch of taste in any of the dishes just average Home style food but pricy Not worth your time and money Madrid is full of great food and experiences

26/05/2026The food experience did not live to the restaurant heritage, the Botin salad was below average , we ordered croquets that were average, we ordered a veal cutlet that came without a bone and overcooked vegetables, the garlic shrimps were good although over cooked , the cheese cake was good, overall it is good food good service but doesn't live up to the expectations of a 300 old restaurant, average food no more

26/05/2026The oldest restaurant in the world shouldn't be overcharging customers. I am extremely disappointed that this successful restaurant targets tourists. Be watchful of your bills when presented. Five of us ordered the set menu and they double charged for drinks, soup, bread. They added 70 Euros additional to the bill that should have been included. Furthermore, when you leave the servers outwardly ask for a tip. The food was decent not outstanding. I had better food in Madrid. My family and l will never visit this establishment again. I worked hard to get this reservation and now regret coming here.

26/05/2026if i was a peasant in 1725 when this restaurant was founded, i would be eating here every day. this is, by far, one of the best restaurants i have eaten at in spain. we ordered the roast suckling pig (of course) and the roast baby lamb, and both of them were even better than we imagined, the pig had a perfectly crispy skin but the meat inside was still so tender. the lamb, my personal favorite, was incredible as well. it was so flavorful and well done, each bite was a gift to my palate. we finished our meal with the traditional cheesecake, which was incredibly creamy and had a perfect balance of flavors. in addition, our waiter was so kind and at the end of the meal he recommended us to view the oven room and go downstairs to the wine cellar. to me, this really completed the experience. seeing the oven was so cool and the wine cellar was very interesting as well. if you come here, make sure you see everything upstairs & downstairs too!! i am definitely coming back here in the future and i highly recommend coming here.

25/05/2026Really cool experience dining at the oldest restaurant in the world. The history and ambiance of this place are what make it special, and the staff was very welcoming and attentive throughout the night. Our group of 8 visited from the US and made this our highlight dinner for the last night of our trip. Of course, we had to order the famous whole suckling pig along with some appetizers and lamb. The suckling pig was definitely tender and cooked perfectly, but flavor-wise it honestly didn’t live up to the hype we had seen online. That said, the lamb was excellent, the Botín salad was delicious, and the ibérico ham was very good as well. Overall, we’re still very glad we went. The history, atmosphere, and overall experience made it a memorable dinner for our group.

25/05/2026We somehow managed to secure last walk in table on a Saturday night. We loved the ambience, the history of the place and the service. I expected a bit more from the food, while it was enjoyable I was hoping for something extraordinary. It was a great adventure to be there but probably a one time thing for us.

24/05/2026We went to the oldest running restaurant in the world and it was honestly a truly underwhelming experience. We knew it was a tourist trap, so we were expecting an overpriced menu and loads of tourists, but the food itself was really nothing special, easily forgettable even. The service was nothing short of rude and way too quick, it’s so obvious that they want you to eat and get out as soon as possible to be able to accommodate as many customers as possible. Beside, we noticed a striking difference of treatment between local and foreigners customers, with waiters going often to check on nearby tables just because they were Spanish speakers, while leaving our table completely unattended. I got to know about this place from a random tourist that posted it online, not from your regular Spanish Joe, so maybe let’s be a bit more appreciative of the foreigners that take the time to include your restaurant in their itinerary. Just saying.

Tappa imperdibile a Madrid.

24/05/2026What a rich experience. Either get a reservation months in advance or arrive 20 minutes before lunch to eat at the oldest restaurant in the world. Friendly staff and great traditional dishes.

24/05/2026Had reservations and sat upstairs. Table of 4 on our left and table of 4 on our right came in after us. Both of those tables had water, bread and bottles of wine before our waiter addressed us, 25 minutes. Same waiter. 40 minutes solid before our wine arrived. Waste of time and not worth it.

A fuir !

13/03/2026Dining at Sobrino de Botín truly felt like stepping into history. As the oldest restaurant in the world, the atmosphere alone makes the experience unforgettable — the traditional dining rooms, historic walls, and the famous wood-fired oven that has been roasting dishes for centuries. The highlight of the meal was the legendary cochinillo (roast suckling pig), perfectly cooked with incredibly crispy skin and tender meat that melts in your mouth. Everything tasted authentic and beautifully executed. We also ordered three desserts that I highly recommend: the flan, the tarta de queso (honestly the best cheesecake of my life), and the tarta Botín — all phenomenal and the perfect way to finish the meal. Another standout was the sangria, which was the best we’ve had in Spain. Getting half a jug for only €10 is practically unheard of, especially at such a historic restaurant. The service was attentive and welcoming, making the entire experience feel warm and memorable. If you’re visiting Madrid and want a truly classic Spanish dining experience, Sobrino de Botín is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend.

16/10/2025Botín is considered the oldest operating restaurant in the world. Since 1725, it has kept its wood-fired oven burning, where some of its finest dishes are prepared. Its menu, ambiance, and attention to detail make it an essential experience when visiting Madrid.
