The Synopsis
The place in brief
“The Roman Forum is an extraordinary destination that offers a deep immersion into the history of ancient civilization. Visitors appreciate the evocative atmosphere and the vastness of the site, although careful planning is essential to manage the heat and the complexity of the route. It is highly recommended to use a guide or an organized tour to fully grasp the cultural significance of every ruin.”

14/06/2026Stuff are not very friendly, we were denied the entrance to the area for 4 minutes even though the entrance wasn't easy and we wasted like 10 minutes to go down

14/06/2026The entire with the Palantine Hill, is huge. If you wanted to fully explore the entire site, you'd need at least 2-3 hours. If you are doing a combined visit Colosseum, know that it will take 2 hours just to walk through everything. Depending on your walking speed, it can take up to 4 hours to do all three (Colosseum, Palantine Hill and Roman Forum). I'm normally a "do your own research and do a self-guided tour" kind of person, but for the Roman Forum and Palantine Hill, I recommend a guided tour. The place is huge, and it can be a bit overwhelming to understand what you are looking at from time to time. There are plenty of water fountains inside, and you'll need lot of water. You'll be walking under the sun for the most part, so definitely bring a water bottle. Also bring proper walking shoes. I've seen people fighting for their lives here with Birkenstocks. Don't do that mistake, your feet will thank you.

13/06/2026Super interesting. Buy tickets in advance from third party online and skipped the long line wait period

13/06/2026Beautiful views, but ticketing is confusing The Good: A truly beautiful experience. The views looking down over the ruins from the terraced gardens on the hill are absolutely incredible and well worth the walk up. The Downside: The ticketing process is very confusing. There are several smaller indoor museum sites inside the complex that require specific access, but the booking website does not make it clear which ticket covers which location. Tip: Do some extra research on the ticket types before you buy online to make sure you get access to everything you want to see!

12/06/2026Great history, but loads of walking , take a drink and good shoes , leave at least two hours to walk around it , worth it in the end
Akshay Jugran
11/06/2026A lovely walk around the historic ruins. This is an amazing mix of all kinds of buildings, gardens, history and really worth a walk. Keep in view you will be walking for a long long time so have your water handy.

11/06/2026A millefeuilles of history. Delicious. Wonderful stuff. To restore one building is to destroy another while leaving several unrevealed below. How can you not be in awe of the weight of history beneath your feet. Get the tickets that let you into special sites.

10/06/2026We visited the Roman Forum and Colosseum as part of a LivTours tour which allowed us to enter without a wait. It was a hot day and no shade, so bring water and a hat. Although you can see the Forum from outside and nearby hills, walking around gives you more of a feeling, with a lot of imagination, what it might be like when it was a bustling epicenter of Rome with the many buildings and temples. The highlight for us was seeing the Temple of Caesar and a quick peak into the cremation site where people still leave fresh flowers and tributes to him. If we hadn't had a tour guide tell us where it was and the significance, we would have missed it. Also, seeing on our own Largo di Torre Argentina, the area where Julius Caesar was assassinated was also special to be in such historical areas - see that site as well since there is a cat sanctuary there.

10/06/2026You can see everything from outside and at 30 degrees it is very hard to stay there. And mainly it is just ruins, good for history lovers, but i was bored

10/06/2026It's so boring
Flame2744 (YTExotic27)
09/06/2026It can get overwhelming with the huge number of things there are to see within the large space of area itself. There are many routes you can take, and it seems like it’s very easy to spend half a day here on its own. One path takes you up to the peak of the Roman Forum, which has a very steep incline. It can get tiring to climb up, but you will be able to get a really good view at the top of the entire attraction. The only downside is that you will definitely sweat a lot with lots of walking and climbing.

08/06/2026We entered via a side entrance with a very small line, as compared to the main entrance which was packed with people. It is advised to wear comfy shoes, as the steps inside are uneven and rocky. The ruins and artefacts inside felt surreal, and the view from Palatine Hill was majestic. Highly worth a visit for visitors in Rome!
Iris Green
08/06/2026Site with lots of history and very interesting fir whoever wants to know more on ancient Roman grandeur Few recommendations: the place does not have lots of shade. Take water bottles and a hat. I also recommend guided tour to enjoy the place without stopping on each point of interest and listen/gather the info yourself. They do not provide printed maps or guides on the entrance
K M
07/06/2026An amazing surreal experience to walk around an area which was once the heart of the entire Roman Republic. Advise to go earlier in the day as can get crowded and to purchase tickets in advance before arriving maed it much smoother.

07/06/2026The Colosseum ticket also includes Roman Forum. You may plan your visit before Colosseum or after it. Namely if the Colosseum entry time is afternoon, you can come end finis forum morning time. Also in reverse. But please don't forget you will wait for entry always. For forum there are 3 entry gates and Palatine hill gate is convenient if the others have long waiting queues. And don't worry all area baby stroller friendly including Colosseum.

06/06/2026My life feels very fleeting and insignificant when walking through the same place people have walked 2000 years before me. It's awe-inspiring and needs to be seen. Get your tickets in advance.

05/06/2026An amazing walk through ancient history, but you need to prepare for the elements. Walking down the original stones where Julius Caesar and the senators actually stood is an incredible experience, but it is basically a giant, open-air sun trap. There is almost zero shade anywhere in the ruins. If you go midday during the summer, the heat bouncing off the ancient white marble is absolutely brutal. Two quick survival tips: First, bring a refillable water bottle. There are ancient Roman public fountains inside with free, ice-cold drinking water, so you don't need to keep buying plastic bottles. Second, wear a hat and heavy sunscreen, because you will be fully exposed the entire time. Your ticket is included with the Colosseum admission, so it is a must-visit. Just do yourself a huge favor and explore it early in the morning or later in the afternoon when the sun isn't beating directly down on you!

03/05/2026The Roman Forum is an architectural marvel. However, it a pity to see it in ruins. Legend has it that Romulus, twin brother of Remus and first king of Rome, founded the city atop the Palatine hill. As time passed, this modest settlement blossomed into the Roman Forum – a bustling marketplace that became the epicenter of civic life.
Dibbs Middleditch
14/06/2025Great area of interest. Very hot in June. Make use of the natural spring water around the city. Great views with lots to see and learn.

04/04/2019Great history, who could ask for more! That said it does depend on which tour company you book with. I've been to Rome three times and this last time has been the best. Which is saying something because Rome never disappointes. Most companies I've found have done a rush job then leave you at the Forum with minimal information on the history. I can't remember the name of the company exactly, it was some like Dark Rome. Not to be confused the the tours that do dark side of Romes history . I can't comment on that as I haven't done it. So I'm not referring to that tour. This company took us everywhere in the Collsium, even out onto the platform we're the Gladiators would make their entrance. Lots and lots of facts, where the animals were kept. How the Collsium would fill with water in the mornings for re-enacted shop battles. You also go to a great high point to view Rome which, I believe, no other company ( at that time, might have changed? ) could join us. The time the guild spends with you in the Forum is amazing. The information, great extra facts and not at all rushed made this tour one I'd always use if/when we return

11/06/2026Forum Romanum je blízko Kolosea. Má spoustu historie a zachovalých objektů.
