I can’t say enough great things about this place. We were staying at a 5 star hotel that was beautiful with gorgeous views old style, but when our flight was delayed a day they had no room for us. They were very unconcerned and honestly rude the entire stay. So we started looking for something close to where we were. We figured we could stay at a 3 star for a night. When we walked in, everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The place was very clean and nice. It was all rather new looking inside. The rooftop terrace didn’t have the best view, but it was much more comfortable and inviting than the other place. They had a full bar and cafe on the terrace with again extremely friendly staff. The included breakfast was also wonderful!!! I would not hesitate to call this a five star hotel. I wish we’d been there the entire time. The location was perfect in the center of everything.

This was our first time staying here (the primary hotel - they have a second across the alley). We had the first floor accessible room and it was excellent, quiet and had a very large bathroom. Their daily breakfast was the best we had in several weeks across a variety of hotels. The staff were all very helpful calling cabs or providing advice. The location is perfect in a quiet area but two minutes from numerous sites and restaurants. The longest walk from here to the Coliseum or Vatican is 20 minutes with all other major spots being less than 10 min walking. You can't go wrong.

It's a nice hotel in a great location. But I was given the room next to the busy street. So, I couldn't sleep all night due to noise. When I asked for a new room, they told me they were fully booked even though I saw available rooms when I booked a few hours prior to arrival. When I asked for ear plugs, they didn't have those either... The room is much smaller than I anticipated. Luckily, I was only there for one night.

This is the second time within 14 months tgat I have stayed here. My room was perfect (for me),the location is great: walking distance to many many varieties of eating establishments and sites. The service/staff i found to be impeccable! Attentive; friendly;helpful. Next time in Rome, with out a doubt, Hotel Smeraldo!

Our first visit to Italy. Rooms were on the small side but were pristine clean. Reception area was wonderful..glass beverage dispensers with homemade lemon ice tea and mint water. Plenty of towels. A/C worked fine. Outdoor terrace bar on the 5th floor.

The location is perfect, we walked everywhere from the hotel. Especially Piazza Navona and the pantheon are very close. Our room was quite small but clean with a nice bed, you don‘t need more for a city trip. The staff at the reception was always very friendly and the breakfast was good too.

Highly recommended- Leonardo, Pierpaulo and front desk staff made sure we had everything we needed including arranging transportation to airport. Absolute outstanding service. Perfect stay—clean, great service, comfortable and quiet (at least in my street facing room—and it’s a popular spot) in a great location. It’s exactly what we needed for a busy stay. More importantly, three cheers for Leonardo and the team who helped us when our flight was canceled and we had to come back after checking out—he got us in our old rooms, made dinner reservations, and got the cab arranged for the next days flight. He made our bonus day a breeze.

Another lovely stay at this beautiful hotel. The staff are excellent!! So friendly and helpful. We felt very welcome here. Beds are very comfortable. Everything was clean. Location was within walking distance to everything we needed/wanted. Breakfast was delicious. Coffee made to order. Nice rooftop bar as well.

Overall a nice stay in busy Rome. The location is very central to getting around the city - everything was between a 15-30 minute walk. The breakfast was pretty good with fresh bread from the bakery directly across the hotel and a selection of coffee. The staff were very kind and helpful and the hotel was very clean. The room however was very small and a bit loud from the noise radiating from the street, this is not necessarily the hotels fault being right in the city, but worth noting for those who are light sleepers or would like a little more room. We also had many instances when the room key stopped working and my husband had to go down to have it fixed, but again the staff was always helpful. Not sure I would book here again but a good choice for a quick stay.

Our trip to Rome was made more memorable with our stay at Hotel Smeraldo. Our room was clean & comfortable, a welcoming retreat after a day exploring the city. Breakfast was simple but exceptional, made more enjoyable with the friendly staff. Special shout-outs to Leonardo who always greeted us with a big smile 😃, Manuel who served the best cappuccino ☕️, and Gina for her thoughtful service! Hands down the best hotel pick - we recommend it to anyone and everyone!!

Stayed here for a few nights in Rome for the first time. Location is great, the hotel is very clean. Overall a really nice experience after traveling all through italy for the first time. That being said, the hotel doesn't have much character to it that you would expect when in Italy after seeing all the amazing architecture/art throughout your whole journey. Nothing was very memorable/stands outs from the stay but the service was top notch and made everything flow amazing. Great place for a first time traveler, nothing jaw dropping but all around a solid experience.

Our stay at Hotel Smeraldo was wonderful. The location is perfect, safe, and close to everything, but what truly made our trip special was the staff. Thank you to Leonardo, Massimo, and Emmanuel at reception. They were always kind, helpful, and flexible, and they made everything feel easy from the moment we arrived. Breakfast was such a lovely start to each day. The food was fresh and tasty, and the team made us feel welcomed with their warm and attentive service. Housekeeping also kept everything spotless, which we really appreciated. The rooftop was another highlight. Francesca and her team served great food with a beautiful atmosphere and a personal touch that made every evening feel special. We had a fabulous stay and will definitely choose Hotel Smeraldo again whenever we are in Rome. Highly recommended.

Just got back from a very comfortable 6 night stay at Hotel Smeraldo. We had the Comfort Double room; it was a clean, decent sized, well appointed room with ample closet space and a nice bathroom. There was some occasional noise from adjoining rooms but that was nothing to worry about. Breakfast buffet was really good with a nice selection of items including a good variety of coffee. The front desk/reception staff - can't say enough good things about them; they were so very helpful (for e.g. working to check us in early + moving our stored luggage to our room, providing easy walking directions to places, eatery recommendations, taxi arrangements, helping with my food delivery orders, etc), very friendly and just an absolute pleasure to interact with, right from when I was hotel shopping. Any questions I had were very promptly answered and a date change I needed to make was quickly accommodated. The hotel location is just ideal - very close to Campo de'Fiori, Piazza Navona and Trastevere. We also walked to all the tourist spots we wanted to visit. The farthest were the Borghese museum and Vatican museum (little more than 30mins+ walk to each). So many restaurants close by, not to mention a great bakery and a gelato place right outside the hotel entrance. There's also a mini market and pharmacy nearby. Getting to the hotel from FCO airport is very easy since the white taxis can drop off and pick up right from the hotel entrance. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Smeraldo and will surely be back here if we ever visit Rome again in the future. Thanks again to the hotel staff for their amazing hospitality and for making our stay so enjoyable!! All the best for your continued success!

This was my 2nd stay at this hotel and it is my go-to place when I go to Rome. First off, the staff is EXCEPTIONAL! Stayed in room 205 which was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was roomy with shelves for all my things. Shower was GREAT! Hot water, fantastic water pressure and multiple jets. Room had a large closet, plenty of outlets, mini frig and a TV. My only 2 “complaints” were that I would have liked softer pillows and a Kuerig instead of a hot water kettle. The shower was a little slippery so we just layer a small towel in there and problem solved! The breakfast buffet was a huge spread with too much to list. Video only allowed me to show 30 seconds of the buffet. I would highly recommend this hotel. It’s updated. Has an elevator and is walking distance to many great places!

Loved our three night stay here . Our first time in Rome and everything went smoothly, check in was a breeze and they helped us with a map and directions around . Rooms are very nice and clean and everyone is super friendly . It’s walkable to most attractions from the hotel , very convenient to amazing food places . A gem of a hotel, the room was lovely… small but well laid out with a balcony… the streets are bustling but when you close the windows and balcony door you don’t hear anything… The staff were wonderful - great to talk to and always had a smile. The decor of the corridors and the stairs was wonderful - green with painted vegetation… which actually set a great vibe… surprised me how much I liked it… Location wise perfect for all the major sights being equidistant… Would certainly book it again.

My husband and I stayed here the last 2 nights of our 2 week vacation in Italy and loved it. The hotel is in a great location, walking distance to all the must-see sights in Rome, shopping and dining. Our room was on the small side, but well lit and nicely decorated. We chose the smaller room knowing we wouldn’t be in it a lot. “King” bed was two twin mattresses and there was a noticeable split, but not a deal breaker. Hotel and rooms were very clean and had an upscale atmosphere. Rooftop terrace bar was lovely after a long day of sightseeing. Staff was very professional and helpful, including arranging transportation to the airport. The included breakfast was excellent with a nice assortment. We would definitely recommend Hotel Smeraldo.

Our stay here last week was fantastic. The location is within walking distance to sights, shopping, and dining. We arrived very early and our room was not ready, but the staff made special effort to get our room cleaned and ready within an hour. I cannot say enough about the front desk staff. I had been emailing with them months before to arrange transportation pick up and to ask questions. My emails were answered within a day. All of the staff go above and beyond to accommodate your needs and to help you feel welcomed. They took the time to give us a map and circle the sights and best routes to get there. The rooftop bar is amazing, the view and location is cozy and welcoming. Our group found it as a great way to unwind after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel is clean, quiet, with friendly staff. Breakfast was included although I did not make it down to enjoy it. My friends were able to go and were assisted in making a little tray to bring back a croissant and cappuccinos for me. The rumors are true...cappuccinos are the best in Italy! : ) Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Rome.

I booked a couple rooms at Hotel Smeraldo pre-cruise and forgot to cancel them as we chose a different location in Rome to stay in. The hotel notified me that I was a no-show, but graciously allowed me to use the credit we were charged for a future stay. We were able to cancel our accommodations post-cruise and switch to Hotel Smeraldo. In addition, I had a very special Rosary with me and it was blessed at the Vatican. I forgot it under my pillow and only realized as my flight home was taking off. I immediately emailed the hotel and they kept it safe for me until I returned to Rome 2 months later. The best service I've received in Rome and I've been there 5 times and have stayed all over! HIGHLY recommend this hotel!!!!

The first night our toilet wasn't flushing properly. I flushed literally about 30 times and it would not go down. I went to the front desk to ask for a plunger and was told they don't have one and couldn't do anything until the next morning. The front desk person came to our room and picked up the garbage can and told me to reach in the toilet to put whatever was in there in the can. I told him absolutely not and he told me to use the toilet brush to "break up" anything in there. I just asked them to use a plunger the next day. The next day they came and since everything had finally flushed they said there wasn't a problem. This was as soon as we check in so to imply that this was our fault (both when we were in the situation and in the response to this review) is horrible. Take responsibility for the issue. Do not make it the customer's fault when it isnt. The hotel was nice with a great roof deck (although the waitress couldn't figure out a vodka tonic). The breakfast was wonderful too.

I loved this hotel and my stay was excellent. I choose the larger room (which was still small but large for Rome) but it was really modern and beautifully decorated. Front and cleaning staff were lovely and friendly (best in rome) and room was cleaned to perfection. Loved my stay there and will always book this hotel for future stays. They even organised taxi which took all our luggage and didn't charge extra (unlike other hotels where it was all a big issue). Only point I took away was for the breakfast staff member who cheekily commented about my choice of coffee, but I'm sure she didn't know I spoke Italian. However all was forgiven cause the coffee was excellent.

We feel conflicted about this hotel. Whilst the location is awesome (we walked absolutely everywhere), the staff were lovely, and the breakfast is good, there were a few things that felt tired. Check in was super easy and the guys at the front desk were lovely, giving us a map of how close everything is. The rooms were quite small which is to be expected in Rome, however we did find the sheets had a few holes in them, the beds were two singles pushed together so any time you moved they would separate and overall the room was tired. We were on level 1 and could hear pretty much everything going on in the lobby, the hand dryer in the bathroom, other guests chatting away and even very loud noises that were happening in the middle of the night. The last annoying thing was there were a few times where we waited at reception for over 10 minutes as there was no one there. Again like I said we are conflicted as we would probably stay here again due to the location being great, there are just a few little annoying things.

A highlight of our time in Italy, the Hotel Smeraldo would be the first place I recommend to anyone asking about a trip to the Eternal City. The location was absolutely perfect - a short walk to Trastevere for delicious food or to the beautiful Piazza Navona for some lively people watching. And right across from the hotel, there is the absolute best little bakery/pizzeria - more than once we were delighted to be able to grab a quick slice to go from there and enjoy it from the rooftop or the sun deck of the hotel. And the oft-praised breakfast even features bread and pastries from that very same bakery. It was absolutely the best breakfast we had anywhere in Italy and I found myself missing it for the next few weeks of our vacation. I loved every one of the staff at the 24 hour front desk who helped us, they were very accommodating and even offered to mail postcards for us to save us the trouble of buying postage! The rooms were clean and comfortable with absolutely excellent A/C that was not too drying but provided a lot of relief after walking ~20k steps every day. Other location highlights: This hotel is also very close to a number of bus lines, making it easy to bus around the city to save our tired feet. And it's in an area where I didn't constantly feel surrounded by tourists, which added to the overall experience.

Fantastic hotel in a great location. We chose this as we only had 3 days in Rome and knew we wouldn’t be in our room a lot. That being said, the room was fantastic and super quiet despite being in a moderately busy part of town. All of the staff were great and you are located about a 30 minute walk from the Vatican, 10 minutes from the Pantheon, 20 minutes to Colosseum! Navigating to this hotel was super easy from Roma Termini translation (Bus 40 to the Argentina stop) and it’s a 5 minute walk away.

The hotel itself was fine and it's in a good location in the city. However, do NOT request a taxi from the hotel itself to pick you up from the airport. They will quote you a flat fee of 75 euros to pick up three people, and charge you an extra 15 if it's after 6 pm or so. The city of Rome has a predetermined fare of 55 euros for trips from the airport to a location inside the Rome city walls, which includes Hotel Smeraldo. Don't get scammed, and instead use the app Freenow to order a taxi.

My son and I stayed here for 3 nights. The room was lovely, clean and cool. The location is within walking distance if the Trevi fountain (20 min) and Colesseum (30 min). A 20 min bus ride from Tremi station. The staff was so polite and the breakfast was really impressive. They also have lemon and cucumber water in the lobby everyday which was a nice touch.

Very nice hotel. The rooms are quite small but cozy. The bed was very comfortable. But what makes it stand out is the outstanding service and hospitality which is unmatched by any hotel I have ever been to. Mr. Leonardo and Mr. Massimo are by far the most professional and sincere staff I have ever met. The breakfast was amazing. Keep in mind that there are two buildings so if you have a family and are booking more than one room make sure you choose rooms in the same building. Also keep in mind that the hotel is located in a limited car traffic area which means no cars are allowed in the area except taxis. So if you have a rental car you will need to park it outside the area.

Das Hotel hat eine gute Lage und auch das Frühstück war insgesamt überzeugend. Leider konnte das Zimmer unsere Erwartungen überhaupt nicht erfüllen. Der Raum war sehr dunkel, zum Hinterhof gelegen und mit Blick auf Rohrleitungen, was den Aufenthalt deutlich beeinträchtigt hat. Selbst den Tag hindurch war es extrem dunkel. Zudem war das Personal teilweise sehr unfreundlich; insbesondere der Rezeptionist reagierte auf unsere Beschwerden eher arrogant als hilfsbereit. Insgesamt daher nur bedingt empfehlenswert.

Muy buena experiencia en este hotel. La ubicación es excelente y permite moverse fácilmente por la zona. El personal fue muy amable y siempre dispuesto a ayudar durante toda la estancia. El desayuno también estuvo muy bien, con buenas opciones para empezar el día. La única observación es que la habitación era un poco pequeña (la que escogimos revisar muy bien antes) pero estaba limpia, cómoda y cumplía perfectamente para descansar. En general, lo recomiendo.

Vi hade, 23-28 februari 2026, ett superior dubbelrum i annexbyggnaden på 3:e våningen. Hiss finns. Rummet hade ej plats för stol eller skrivbord men var väldisponerat med garderober och plats för resväskor. Rent och modernt med fint badrum. Fönster med bra ljudisolering mot gatan. Ingen störande restaurang eller bar på gatan. Korta gångavstånd till exempelvis Pantheon, Campo de Fiori och Piazza Navona. Personalen mycket vänlig och hjälpsam. God, riklig och varierad fräsch frukost. Väl fungerande Wi-Fi. Vi kommer mer än gärna tillbaka!

L 'hôtel SMERALDO. Très bien placé, très bien agencé, clair, lumineux, clean, tout simplement agréable et reposant. Rooftop/toit-terrasse avec un très beau point de vue, au dernier étage bien évidemment. Ils sont très sympathiques et conciliants. Le petit déjeuner ou buffet pourrait t'on dire est vraiment super! Bref! N'hésitez pas si vous devez vous rendre dans la ville éternelle, allez y.

Das „Smeraldo“ punktet natürlich in erster Linie durch seine Lage. In unmittelbarer Nähe zu vielen Sehenswürdigkeiten und zentral gelegen ist es ein super Hotel, um von dort aus die Stadt zu erkunden. Wir waren insgesamt 5 Tage dort in einer Familiensuite untergebracht, die sich in einem Gebäude neben dem Hauptgebäude befindet. Die Suite war absolut in Ordnung und - für Rom - großzügig gestaltet, leider fehlten bei den Fenstern die Schalldämmung, weshalb wir nachts des Öfteren durch Lärm auf der Straße geweckt wurden, oder eben die Straßenreinigung in den frühen Morgenstunden ihrer Arbeit nachging. Das Personal war absolut nett und sehr hilfsbereit, das Frühstück in Ordnung (etwas mehr Obst/Gemüse wäre toll). Die Rooftop-Bar bot am Abend schöne Cocktails und einen schönen Blick, alles in allem ein Hotel, das ich wieder besuchen würde.

Hemos pasado 5 noches en este hotel y nos ha encantado. Muy buena ubicación, desayuno bufet bueno y completo y el servicio ha sido atento y súper amable. El apartamento de 60 m2 era perfecto: 2 habitaciones con 2 baños y una cocina equipada con todo el menaje necesario. Leonardo de recepción fue muy simpático con mis hijas y servicial con lo que necesitábamos. Gracias!

O Hotel Smeraldo faz algo muito bem: o simples, quando bem executado, vira excelência. Desde a minha chegada, fui recebida por recepcionistas extremamente simpáticos e solícitos, e essa sensação de acolhimento se manteve durante toda a estadia. O hotel é muito cheiroso, sempre limpo, e transmite uma sensação constante de cuidado. As camareiras são ágeis e deixam o quartinho sempre arrumadinho, o que faz toda a diferença depois de um dia andando por Roma. Outro ótimo ponto é a localização que é sem dúvidas excelente. O hotel fica próximo de diversas atrações turísticas, permitindo fazer praticamente tudo a pé. Além disso, há muitos restaurantes ótimos nas redondezas, e até mesmo o bairro de Trastevere — que eu adorei — fica bem pertinho. O quarto é confortável, com cama e travesseiros muito bons, tudo é limpo, organizado e muito bem cuidado, perfeito para quem quer aproveitar o melhor de Roma e voltar para um lugar tranquilo para descansar. O café da manhã também merece destaque: muito bom, com várias opções da Roscioli. Considerando a localização, o conforto, o atendimento e a qualidade geral, o Hotel Smeraldo oferece excelência. Para brasileiros que desejam se hospedar em um hotel bem localizado, confortável e acolhedor, é, sem dúvida, uma ótima indicação. 🇧🇷✨

Il mio soggiorno all’Hotel Smeraldo è stato come aprire una finestra su una Roma più intima, quella fatta di vicoli che profumano di storia e di albe lente che illuminano i tetti del centro. L’hotel accoglie con una bellezza discreta, mai esagerata: ambienti curati, linee armoniose e quella sensazione di calma che si percepisce appena si varca la soglia. La posizione è un dono prezioso. A pochi passi da Campo de’ Fiori, il cuore della città sembra pulsare dolcemente attorno all’hotel: tutto è vicino, tutto è raggiungibile, tutto invita a essere vissuto a piedi, al ritmo lento di chi vuole davvero ascoltare Roma. I servizi sono pensati con misura e attenzione. Le camere offrono comfort sincero, la colazione ha il sapore delle cose fatte con cura e gli spazi comuni accompagnano con garbo i momenti di pausa dopo una giornata tra piazze e monumenti. Wir hatten 4 super Tage in Rom und im Hotel Smeraldo. Der Service war super, vom Flughafentransfer bis zur Restaurantempfehlung. Die Zimmer waren super eingerichtet und sauber. Hinweise zu Defekten oder sonstige Wünsche wurden dankbar angenommen und sofort behoben. Würden sofort wieder dort übernachten bzw unseren Freunden weiterempfehlen. Die zentrale Lage macht die Entdeckung Roms für Fussgänger zu einem Kinderspiel. Ein kleiner Wermutstropfen waren hin und wieder die lautstark heimkehrenden jüngeren Rom Entdecker. Das Frühstück ist gehoben und läßt keine Wünsche offen.

Soggiorno breve in coppia di una notte. Siamo stati accolti da Emanuele che fin da subito si è rivelato super gentile e disponibile, accompagnandoci nella dependance distaccata dall’hotel stesso e fornendoci tutte le informazioni necessarie per il nostro soggiorno. L’hotel si trova in uno dei vicoletti di Trastevere, letteralmente a due passi da tutto, tra cui campo dei fiori e Largo Argentina. Torneremo sicuramente!❤️

Très bel hôtel, avec une situation géographique idéale pour visiter Rome à pied (tout est à proximité monument le plus loin à 25min à pied). Le personnel est agréable et n’hésite pas à vous donner de bonnes adresses, la chambre est très propre ainsi que la salle de bain très fonctionnelle. Nous étions côté rue et nous n’avons pas entendu le moindre bruit. Le petit déjeuner est copieux et suffisant je vous le conseille ! En face de l’hôtel vous avez une boulangerie où vous pouvez prendre des parts de pizza à l’unité. Mais si vous voulez bien manger n’hésitez pas à vous rendre au restaurant juste à côté le Piccolo Vicolo mention spéciale à Enrico le serveur vraiment très sympa. Nous ne pouvons que vous recommander cet hôtel.

客室はワンルームで、日本のビジネスホテルみたいでした。狭めですがバルコニーがあるので開放感はあります。 ロケーションがかなりよく、早朝からバチカンへ歩いていくことができました。 朝食はバイキング形式で、席に座るとスタッフの方がコーヒーメニューを聞きに来てくれます。（特に説明がなかったため、私はドリンカーに直接お願いしてしまい、上記説明をしていただきました。お忙しい中申し訳なかったです。）

Di passaggi a Roma per un breve soggiorno ci siamo trovati a dover cercare una sistemazione in seguito ad un problema con la prenotazione che avevamo in un’altra struttura. Waren im Juni 2025 während eines Roadtrip rund um Italien für 2 Tage hier Gast. Vorweg, Parken kann man hier nicht. Es wird angeboten eine Private Garage in der Nähe zu nehmen, Preis 65€ je Nacht oder in ein öffentliches Parkhaus, welches ca. 1 km zu Fuß erreichbar ist (24€ je Tag). Wir haben uns für das öffentliche Parkhaus ob der Preise entschieden. Der Weg zum Hotel ist dennoch beschwerlich, da alle Straßen mit Kopfsteinpflaster gepflastert sind und der Koffer holpert und stolpert. Als Idee könnte man dem Hotel einen kleinen Koffer hol und bring Service zum/vom Parkhaus empfehlen. Zum Hotel: Das Hotel scheint vor nicht all zu vielen Jahren renoviert worden zu sein und befindet sich inmitten einer Touri-Meile. Lobby ist modern und hübsch gemacht, das Personal ist recht freundlich. Das (unser) Zimmer war recht klein, auch das Bad war klein. Ihren Zweck haben beide dennoch erfüllt. Zudem waren sie sehr sauber und wohlriechend, die Einrichtung modern und zweckmäßig. Der kleine Balkon am Zimmer ist eigentlich sinnfrei da er genau über der Touri-Meile hängt, aber für Raucher ist er ideal da man nicht erst runter vor die Tür muss. Das WLAN ist top und schnell. Im Bad war in der Dusche in einer Ecke etwas Schimmel, was aber bei einem Hotel eigentlich kaum vermeidbar ist da Gäste selten lüften. Das Hotel liegt schön zentral und viele Sehenswürdigkeiten sind von hier aus gut zu erreichen. Frühstück: Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig und gut. Lediglich der Frühstücksraum kommt eher an eine kleine Firmenkantine ran. Sauber, ja, aber vom Ambiente eher Bahnhof. Dennoch kann man das Hotel guten gewissen empfehlen.
