14/06/2026It's beautiful. The fountains are gorgeous. If you want it to yourself, go around 6AM, it is deserted. If you want it for the atmosphere, go around 6PM when the street artists come out and the sun is no longer punishing.

10/06/2026After Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps, we headed to Piazza Navona, one of Rome's most famous and beautiful squares. It's elongated share is because the area was originally used as an athletic stadium (Circus Agnoalis) and held 20,000 fans. After the fall of the Roman Empire, houses were built where the stands used to be. In the 17th century, Pope Innocent X commissioned the Sant Agnese in Agnone church, a place and the artist Bernini to build Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi or The Fountain of the Four Rivers. Each statue represents the four major rivers of the four continents which papal authority had spread - Nile (representing Africa), Ganges (Asia), Danube (Europe), and Rio de la Plata. (Americas) More details can be found on wikipedia. Two smaller fountains are also in the square created by Giacomo della Porta, an apprentice of Michelangelo. They are called the Fontana del Moro (the Fountain of the Moor) and the Fontana del Nettuno (Fountain of Neptune). We went to Bernini restaurant which even being close to the Piazza was still reasonably priced. I had the best affogato I have ever had.

09/06/2026The elongated shape still clearly shows that Piazza Navona began its centuries-old life as a Roman stadium. In 80 AD, Emperor Domitian had a so-called "Circus Agonalis" built, a competition arena where people could attend games (Rom. "agones"). After the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the stadium fell into disuse and was used as building material. At the end of the 15th century, the city market was moved to this location, and a century later, the first two fountains were constructed by Giacomo della Porta: the Fontana del Nettuno (1574) and the Fontana del Moro (1575). During the pontificate of Innocent X, who reigned from 1644 to 1655 and whose family palace, the Palazzo Pamphili, stood opposite the square, the square was transformed into one of the most important examples of Baroque Roman architecture and art. Girolama Rainaldi transformed the old Palazzo Pamphili into a Baroque palace, Bernini designed the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, and Francesco Borromini supervised the construction of his Sant'Agnese in Agone. From 1652 to 1866, elaborate festivities of the Pamphili family were organized on Piazza Navona every Saturday and Sunday in August. In 1865, the square was struck by a flood (something that occurred quite often in Rome). In 1869, the market was moved to the nearby Campo de' Fiori, although a Christmas market is still held on the square every December. Nowadays, the elegant Piazza Navona is primarily a square of shops and outdoor cafes, of seeing and being seen. I certainly wouldn't skip it during a visit to Rome!

09/06/2026Gorgeous square. I was in awe of some of the architecture of the buildings around the square. It's spoiled slightly by people trying to pull you in to restaurants but I understand that it's a tourist hotspot and they are just capitalising on our presence.

13/06/20266月の夕方訪れました。サンタンジェロ城 から歩いて行きました。 広場は水場は涼しく、景色は良いのですが、 基本的に日差しが強く、暑くて仕方なかった。 周りに日陰がなく、結構キツかった。 朝早く行くか、夜のライトアップが綺麗な ようなので遅くに行く方が良い気がします。 termini 方面からの交通手段はバスが メインのようでした。 私は帰りだけバスを使用しました。 C.so Vittorio Emanuele (Argentina)→ termini 方面で40番線で帰りました。 ほかにも64、70あたりで帰れそう。 参考までに。

09/06/2026Piazza Navona, Roma’da görülmesi gereken tarihi meydanlardan biri. Meydan çok büyük olmasa da etrafındaki tarihi yapılar, çeşmeler ve sokak sanatçılarıyla keyifli bir atmosfere sahip. Özellikle Bernini’nin ünlü Dört Nehir Çeşmesi meydanın en dikkat çekici noktası. Açıkçası ben aşırı etkilenmedim, bu yüzden 4/5 diyebilirim. Yine de Roma’da yürüyüş rotanıza eklenebilecek, kısa süre vakit geçirip fotoğraf çekilebilecek güzel bir yer. Kafelerde oturmak veya meydanın hareketli havasını izlemek için ideal.

25/06/2016一次感受不同噴泉及人潮 這個廣場呈現長方形 南北中間均有噴泉 兩旁有相當多教堂及餐廳與各種商店 可以漫步欣賞每一個噴泉 可以了解每一個噴泉在不同的陽光與方位時 展現的美感 拿佛納廣場呈橢圓形，共有有三座設計優美的噴泉，分別置於前、中、後三方，除四河噴泉外，尚有海神噴泉〈Fountain of Neptune〉和摩爾人噴泉〈Fontana del Moro〉，各有特色 ，羅馬最美的廣場之一 廣場（英語：plaza/square）是在傳統城市中的一個廣闊、平坦的開放空間，主要用途是讓民眾聚集，或用作政治用途。在廣場中通常會設有一些銅像、雕塑、紀念碑或噴泉等裝飾。廣場一般指城市廣場；有些在宮殿或教堂廟宇等前方<如同東方的廟埕>也是廣場> 此外，在現代，「廣場」一詞也被用作購物中心甚至商業大廈以及私人屋苑的名稱。 在歐洲旅行最容易遇到就是各式各樣的廣場，通常這些廣場有大有小，重要通道或小區域的公共區域，東方不一定有類似的設計，也許改為公園而非廣場這個名稱，但是廣場一般都是沒有圍籬，也是交通要道，地鐵出口。正常來說有點類似大一點的圓環，對於有都市計畫的十字交叉型路是很少有廣場這個需要。 旅行中坐在廣場階梯上，感受停歇帶給他們的美好時刻，五百世的回眸能換得今生一次的擦肩而過，喜歡停留在每一個廣場，欣賞各式各樣的人在同個時刻寫下的篇章。
