21/05/2026Over half the museum was empty/closed/under construction. The half that was open was awful. I guess I don’t “get” it. Took 5 mins to take in the works, and another 10 waiting on the elevator or getting lost in closed sections of the building. Worst $16E I’ve ever spent.

16/05/2026The Museo Madre is a fantastic venue for contemporary art and provides a brilliant, modern contrast to classical, historic Naples. The museum spans several floors of a beautiful old palazzo, which is used to showcase the exhibitions in a truly impressive architectural setting. The permanent collection and the temporary exhibitions are incredibly diverse, bold and perfectly curated. It is absolutely fascinating to see how the historic building structure blends with contemporary masterpieces here. A spectacular highlight is the entrance area itself, which has been perfectly showcased by Daniel Buren with a colourful mirror installation. As you stroll through the bright, spacious galleries, one well-known work follows another. We were particularly impressed by the large-scale, iconic installations: from Jannis Kounellis’s historic oil cans to Richard Long’s delicate "Circle" work applied directly to the wall, right through to Jeff Koons’s pop-art, eye-catching sculptures from his famous Hulk series. Compared to the bustling streets outside, the museum is pleasantly quiet. You can lose yourself completely in the works and enjoy the creative atmosphere in peace. For us, one of the best museums of modern art in Naples, highly recommended!

29/12/2025I expected more to be honest, it’s personal preference but half of the art pieces either didn’t resonate with me or was just disturbing without meaning behind it. Not a lot of explanation behind the pieces, which is crucial for contemporary art. We didn’t have to pay because we had the articad, but if I would have payed for it I would be really disappointed. The palace is nice the other half of the artwork is actually quality work but the rooms are also not really well maintained. Also the top part was closed off.

Each room has a sheet with an explanation about the artist and their art being displayed which is informative. Nice break from the busy streets outside. Entry was affordable at €8

18/04/2026Per quanto mi riguarda il livello delle opere è imbarazzante, sembra tanta roba buttata li senza senso. Sala delle colonne al primo piano chiusa, le mostre temporanee del secondo e del terzo piano senza un filo logico , le stanze delle video proiezioni con tanta luce che manco si vedono, la terrazza completamente spoglia e per non parlare delle dipendenti che fanno finta che non esisti parlando ad altissima voce dei fatti loro! Non merita 8 euro di biglietto. Non lo consiglierei.

16/04/2026Sehr schönes Museum. Speziell die temporären Ausstellungen im April 2026 gefielen mir alle. Etwas verwirrende Wegweiser; Terrasse und Teile der Ausstellung schwierig zu finden. Ausblicke aus den Fenster sind teilweise toll! Und: Es hat kostenlose Schliessfächer - sogar ein richtig grosser Rucksack passt rein! Wer interessiert ist, benötigt sicher 90 min. für das ganze Museum.

11/04/2026Non andate a visitarlo entro 1h dalla chiusura perchè (nonostante un'ora di tempo permetterebbe di visitare tutti i percorsi) il personale vi caccerà via senza darvi possibilità di concludere la visita, poiché "le operazioni di chiusura iniziano 30 min prima dell'orario di chiusura ufficiale". Ovviamente, questo aspetto non è stato specificato in biglietteria, altrimenti non avrei nemmeno comprato l'ingresso.

01/04/2026Die aktuelle, temporäre Ausstellung ist hauptsächlich von Uri Aran und diese hat mir ganz gut gefallen. Es gibt einen Stern weniger, weil es im Haus größtenteils keine mobilen Daten und kein WLAN gibt. Die Beschreibungen und Beschriftungen sind spärlich auf Kopien italienisch und englisch. Für so ein grosses Haus ist das etwas verwunderlich. Es passt jedoch zu dieser verfallenen Umgebung. Es grüßt der Charme einer armen Stadt.

Ive visited twice, in 2024 & 2026, and each time I was surprised by how the exhibitions reflect current trends in contemporary art, as well as by the strength of their curatorial approach. In particular, the site specific installation by Daniel Buren, which begins right from the entrance, is absolutely stunning. It transforms the entire building and space into part of the exhibition, making you want to keep taking photos. Inside the galleries, the local views of Naples seen through the large windows are also incredibly beautiful and become part of the overall experience. TIP: Be sure to visit the rooftop! There are artworks there as well, and you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city of Naples. 나폴리에 방문하면, 꼭 가봐야할 현대미술관입니다. 2023, 2026년 방문했는데, 매번 현대미술에 있어 트렌드를 아우르는 전시와 그들의 큐레이팅에 놀라며 전시를 감상했습니다. 특히, 입구안쪽부터 시작되는 프랑스 작가 Daniel Buren의 site specific 설치작품(공간)은 건물 자체, 공간 전체를 전시로 사용하는 방식을 잘 사용했습니다. 너무 멋져서 계속 사진만 찍고 싶은 공간이예요~ 또 전시장 안에서 큰 창문을 통해 바라보는 로컬 풍경이 정말 아름답게 느껴집니다. TIP: 옥상에 꼭 가보세요. 거기에도 작품들이 있고, 옥상에서 본 나폴리 시내 풍경이(멀리 배수비오화산도 보임)이 멋찝니다! 👍😎

23/01/2026Ritorno al Museo Madre dopo un bel po' di tempo. Qualche conoscente mi aveva giá informato della caduta a picco che c'era stato, per quello che un tempo era ritenuto un museo dal taglio internazionale. Ebbene: tutto confermato! La sensazione generale é di un fantasma del museo che fu, senz'arte ne' parte, con un costo del biglietto intero di OTTO euro per una picccola mostra che sembra piú quella che ti aspetteresti da una galleria privata, e una collezione permanente che vive in un tangibile stato di trascuratezza (ricordo ad esempio che in passato,la traccia audio dell'opera di Rebecca Horn era ben udibile). Ad aggiungere un mood da Napoli anni ottanta post terremoto, un cantiere attivo (per lavori di restauro? ) che impedisce la fruizione del meraviglioso cortile ( ricordiamoci sempre del prezzo d'ingresso di OTTO euro! ) e accessi semi inagibili ad aree usufruibili dai visitatori, come i bagni: con tanto di controsoffitto a rischio crollo. Ricordavo inoltre, la presenza all'ingresso, di una tenda colorata, oggi sostituita da una semi porta in vetro che lascia entrare un vento gelido che la metá basterebbe (ne ridevamo con un altro visitatore straniero): un dipendente mi ha spiegato di un problema tecnico della porta ma a poco serve. Insomma, forse sarebbe meglio non tornarci e nemmeno suggerirlo piú, fino a quando gli enti responsabili della gestione di questo museo non comprendano cosa fare per far tornare il Madre un luogo di elevata caratura... Tanto ai napoletani quello che non manca e la pazienza e il masochismo.

03/01/2026Il Museo Madre è sicuramente una bella realtà ma devo, però, penalizzarlo, abbassando la media, perchè non è possibile che su tre piani funzioni un solo ( uno di uno) servizio igienico ridotto in condizioni pietose! Per una città ( la mia!) che si appresta ad effettuare un salto importante nel breve termine, ciò non è indice di crescita!! Mi auguro, e sono sicuro che accadrà, che i diretti interessati porranno fine a questa assurdo ( e penoso ) disservizio ripristinando i giusti livelli di Qualità!

22/12/2025Era da molto che desideravo visitare il Madre, le aspettative erano alte e sono state confermate in pieno, a partire dalla ristrutturazione del palazzo ad opera di Alvaro Siza. Un ringraziamento speciale va a Raffaele, per la visita guida di alto livello. Conoscenza e passione in un museo d’arte contemporanea: per nulla scontato! Vale davvero la pena informarsi sull’opportunità che dà questo grande museo di fare visite guidate come proprio servizio compreso nel biglietto d’ingresso. Un plauso a Raffaele e un plauso a chi guida questa struttura. Riesce ad essere accogliente andando oltre all’idea elitaria di arte contemporanea e arte concettuale.

17/12/2025Siamo capitati di lunedì e ci è stato detto che non tutte le sale erano possibili da visitare poiché stavano cambiando gli allestimenti .. nonostante questo biglietto pagato per intero e visitabile un corridoio del secondo piano , il primo piano ( 8 sale se non sbaglio) e il piano terra ( dove in seguito ci viene indicato che non ce nulla a parte le pareti in sè … tutto sommato anche carino ma in questo caso farei pagare un biglietto ridotto essendo poche sale disponibili … anche facendo con calma ogni sala ci abbiamo messo meno di mezz’ora

15/12/2025Museo potenzialmente molto bello che presenta spazi espositivi non sempre curati e puliti come dovrebbe essere un museo di questo livello che ospita grandi artisti. Il corpo di custodia letteralmente inappropriato, parlano ad alta voce, mangiano in sala, parlando al telefono come se fossero nel salotto di casa loro, non curandosi minimamente dei visitatori che vorrebbe godere di uno spazio espositivo in silenzio.

Le bâtiment, lumineux et parfaitement agencé, met superbement en valeur les œuvres, qu’elles soient monumentales, conceptuelles ou plus intimistes. La scénographie est fluide, moderne, et permet une immersion totale dans chaque exposition. On sent une vraie ambition artistique et une grande cohérence dans la sélection des œuvres. C’est un musée qui surprend, qui questionne et qui laisse une forte impression. Une visite incontournable pour tous ceux qui apprécient l’art contemporain.

30/11/2025Si estás en Nápoles ahórrate esta visita. Muchas de las salas estaban cerradas y no permitían el acceso a la terraza. Para lo que es la ciudad el edificio es muy poco interesante y las exposiciones mediocres. El precio es de 8€ y puedes ver la mitad del museo, ahórratelos y comete una Margherita en la ciudad.

14/11/2025Deludente. Non ha soddisfatto minimamente le mie aspettative. Struttura poco curata. Era accessibile solo una minima parte dell'intero museo e gli spazi espositivi sono stati sfruttati malissimo. Inoltre, ho trovato il personale di sala di una maleducazione estrema: c'erano due signore al primo piano che non facevano altro che ridere e gridare tra di loro, rendendo la visita veramente spiacevole. Apprezzabili le opere esposte ma per nulla valorizzate.

13/11/2025Sono rimasta delusa dalle parecchie sale non accessibili non allestite e dall'illuminazione secondo me non adatta. Spazi ampi e poche opere. I biglietti di sala tutti un po' stropicciati. Porte semi aperte e transenne qua e là. Carina la parte con le opere di Pietro Lista. In generale l'idea che mi ha lasciato è stata quella di un museo poco curato sotto vari aspetti. Un vero peccato, mi aspettavo molto di più da un museo del genere.

03/11/2025Museo ideal para los amantes del arte contempo. A mi me encantó. Recomiendo solo si te gusta es estilo de arte más conceptual e instalativo. El café también lindo para parar a tomarse uno y ver libros. Justo el tercer piso estaba en montaje pero la entradas y los dos pisos estaban buenos, obras de Kapoor, Le Witt, Koons, Serra.

01/10/2025Don't go! Prix de 8€ pour un musée où il n'y a rien de consistant. Même les œuvres d'artistes majeurs sont des œuvres sans intérêt, des fond de tiroirs pour des artistes en mal d'inspiration. Une catastrophe (à part la vue sympa sur la terrasse du bâtiment). Exposition temporaire d'Euforia Tomaso Binga insipide, verbeuse et tellement datée. J'ai perdu mon temps pourtant j'apprécie énormément l'art contemporain d'habitude, mais là ce n'est pas possible.
