06/05/2026A simple, excellent neighborhood restaurant; practically everyone who came in, except for me, was called by name and kissed on both cheeks. There’s not much of a bar (no Campari, but they do have Aperol). I had “puntarelle,” chicory tips sautéed in oil, anchovies, and olives: phenomenal. Then I had maccheroni with tomato sauce and sausage. What can I say, also superb? The cuisine seems Calabria-based. This is great, subtle food. Amoretto gelato with “fig-honey” was dessert with an interesting Calabrian digestivo at the end, Mzero, which, the way they pronounce it, sounds like “misero” with the wrong accent, alcohol singing the blues (which it often does). A lovely table to return to often.

05/05/2026pleasant meal at dongio! favourite dish was the spicy sausage tomato pasta, and i loved the balsamic vinegar and olive oil they provided with the bread. the anchovy pasta was quite an acquired taste, very heavy and quite fishy so be careful with that dish!

28/04/2026Everything we tried was tender, flavourful, juicy… and in retrospective it became one of the meals I’ll definitely remember from our trip to Italy, as our other choices were more conventional (aka pizza and pasta). I can still remember the taste and texture of that ossobuco 2 weeks later! Tiramisu with ricotta did not impress me much though — the biscuits were too soggy, and the combination with ricotta just didn’t do for me. One downside is the limited availability and tight schedule. I booked our lunch a week in advance right before closing time and the atmosphere felt a bit rushed by the end. I wouldn’t dare go without a reservation (as with many other places in Milano as we eventually found out the hard way). Service was friendly, but nothing outstanding.

Given the reviews, it was a disappointing experience. After trying a total of five different dishes, we felt we could have cooked better ourselves. The prices are reasonable.

The food was amazing, the pasta I ate with pesto and tomatoes was incredible and my husband got the meatballs that came highly recommended. They ran out of tiramisu for dessert, so we got the chocolate caramel tart and it was SO good. Highly recommend.

Reasonably priced wine list with good bottles to be had for 20 euros. It was a short cab ride from the touristy restaurants near the Duomo, but well worth the ride!

01/10/2025Firstly, I thought I had a reservation, but actually I didnt do it. I told them and as I had already walked all the way there with my mother, they prepared a table for us!... Its not often that you see this kind of gentle gestures, I truly appreciate it! Secondly, the food! Absolutely fantastic, I had the linguine a la cafoncello and my mother had the parmiguiana, both were super tasty, generous portions, I enjoyed every bite, one of those dishes you are wishing never ends. For dessert we had a Tiramisu, and hands down one of the best I ever had. Price/value is super super good, for two mains, a dessert, water, a glass of wine and a beer we paid below €50, which is a very good price nowadays. If you can dont doubt it, just go! But do make a reservatio not like myself 😅

27/09/2025A longstanding institution with timeless dishes. It was difficult to choose which pasta to try but from the taste and quality of the ones we tried, I wouldn’t leave without trying a pasta. (Highly recommend the scallop pasta). The desserts were especially delicious. The tiramisu had a light, fluffy ricotta filling paired with an amazing espresso flavour. The ginger cheesecake was smooth and rich, but not a heavy end to the meal. A must-visit for anyone wanting a great meal in Milan.

I ordered the Tamaro pasta with Nduja, but I think they have other more interesting dishes on the menu, so I suggest trying something else or asking the staff for a suggestion. 22/09/2025The food is tasty, but the service is extremely disappointing. During my visit, I felt that the servers treated Asian customers unfairly. I asked for the dessert menu and waited for more than 20 minutes, while a white customer received it immediately. They didn’t even want the desserts, and only after they refused did the waiter hand the same menu to us. This is clearly racial discrimination. If you only care about the food, you might still come, but be prepared to tolerate unfair treatment if you’re asian.

Il Sud Italia a Milano, note di piccante, piatti gustosi, i primi sono porzioni abbondanti, i secondi (io ho mangiato un filetto) sono molto buoni. Il servizio è veloce ed i ragazzi al tavolo abbastanza attenti. Il padrone di casa è il tipico ristoratore che ama il suo lavoro e si vede. Oltre ai vini sfusi, hanno anche una carta di rispetto per il locale che è. Ho bevuto un buonissimo Timorasso.

Ieri sera ad esempio non avevamo prenotato e l'addetto di sala,giovane empatico,si e' subito adoperato per trovarci, in pochi minuti,un posto per la nostra serata. Complimenti per la qualita' e la varieta' del cibo,l'ambiente accogliente e i prezzi del tutto adeguati.... Ottimo locale.. Lo consiglio a chi non si adegua alla mediocrita' culinaria e comportamentale dei locali attuali.....

02/05/2026Sono stato a cena l’1 maggio in questo ristorante di cucina calabrese segnalato dalla Guida Michelin (con moglie e figlio) e l’esperienza è stata decisamente all’altezza delle aspettative. L’ambiente è accogliente e autentico, con un’atmosfera molto tranquilla. Il servizio è stai attento e cordiale, mai invadente, soprattutto veramente molto veloce. La cucina è il vero punto di forza: sapori intensi, piatti ricchi e ben eseguiti, che rispettano la tradizione calabrese senza risultare pesanti. Ottime le specialità tipiche dai primi corposi alle carni, tutto preparato con ingredienti di qualità e grande cura. La sensazione è quella di una cucina genuina ma allo stesso tempo ben strutturata. Rapporto qualità-prezzo corretto per il livello dell’esperienza e per la qualità complessiva offerta. In sintesi, un indirizzo che consiglio a chi cerca una vera cucina calabrese a Milano, autentica ma con uno standard qualitativo riconosciuto anche dalla Guida Michelin.

Non cerca di impressionare con artifici né di sedurre con mode effimere: conquista, invece, attraverso una coerenza assoluta tra semplicità e qualità, cifra distintiva delle grandi tavole italiane. Qui la cucina non si racconta, si esprime. Ogni piatto è un atto di fedeltà alla tradizione calabrese, interpretata con rigore, misura e una consapevolezza che sfiora l’eleganza più pura. Le salsicce, declinate in più preparazioni, sono un manifesto: saporite, autentiche, profondamente identitarie, esprimono una materia prima selezionata e lavorata con rispetto quasi artigianale. Ma è nella parmigiana di melanzane che si raggiunge una forma di compiutezza rara: stratificata con precisione, intensa ma mai pesante, capace di evocare memoria, casa, radici. Un piatto che non si limita a piacere – rimane. L’atmosfera è altrettanto significativa. Frequentato da una clientela eterogenea – professionisti milanesi, habitué fedeli, intenditori – Dongio conserva un carattere schietto e profondamente umano. 05/03/2026Senza infamia né lode tranne che per il servizio che è stato veramente molto cortese. Il menù ha pochi piatti calabresi tradizionali e nonostante il cibo fosse buono mancava di “anima”. Si mangia bene assolutamente e l’ambiente è quello tipico delle trattorie milanesi ma manca di qualcosa di particolare e tipico delle nostre terre.

16/01/2026Wij zijn hier komen eten omdat het restaurant vermeld staat in de Michelingids met een Bib Gourmand. We hadden er veel zin in; het menu zag er veelbelovend en aantrekkelijk uit. De bediening was op zich correct, maar wel afstandelijk. Als niet-Italiaanse gasten merkten we al snel dat er weinig moeite werd gedaan en dat er duidelijk onderscheid werd gemaakt in aandacht en benadering, wat de ervaring geen goed deed. Daarbij kwam nog dat er €10 extra werd gerekend om aan tafel te mogen zitten en bediend te worden, wat de verwachtingen qua service vanzelfsprekend hoger maakt. Het eten stelde helaas teleur. Het voorgerecht met beef rolls was vrij smaakloos en miste kruiding en diepgang. De pasta was gelukkig wel lekker en het beste gerecht van de avond. De hoofdgerechten vielen echter zwaar tegen. De steak tartaar was niet aangemaakt: simpelweg gemalen rundvlees zonder kruiden, saus, kappertjes of enige verfijning, geserveerd met een mager plakje kaas. Dit voelde niet als een volwaardig gerecht. De kalfswangen hadden op zich een oké vleessmaak, maar de structuur deed meer denken aan soepvlees, geserveerd in veel vocht met slechts een paar gebakken aardappeltjes erbij. Al met al waren we erg verheugd om hier te gaan eten, mede door de Michelin-vermelding, maar de avond is enorm tegengevallen. Voor ons werd de verwachting helaas niet waargemaakt.

22/12/2025Che delusione! Torniamo dopo anni in questo ristorante sempre pieno e niente è cpme dovrebbe. Da un ristorante calabrese ci aspettiamo, così come avevamo sempre ricevuto, piatti abbondanti, sapori forti e decisi, e soprattutto, come dovunque, cibo espresso. Le paste sono discrete, ma con sapori senza anima, la pasta con la salsiccia piccante calabrese era quasi dolce e di piccante non c'era traccia. La cosa più grave è il caciocavallo alla griglia che è arrivato a tavola appena tiepido e gommoso, con la quasi certezza che fosse stato preparato prima e riscaldato, tant'è che lo abbiamo rimandato indietro ed è tornato lo stesso piatto scaldato al microonde. In più cena praticamente di corsa, piatti portati troppo presto per essere espressi o comunque fatti con amore e in 35 minuti cena finita. 13/12/2025Invitato a cena in questo locale da un mio caro amico non sapevo cosa mi attendesse. Entrati, veniamo catapultati in una caratteristica trattoria d'altri tempi, dal sapore familiare. Il menù è costellato di pietanze davvero originali con deliziose influenze calabresi. Non potevamo non assaggiare le bruschette all'nduja, le polpettine su purè di fave, puntine di cicoria con alici, ecc...tutte wow! I primi ed i secondi ci ancora più stupito per la semplicità e la ricercatezza del gusto. I semifreddi finali non possono mancare nelle scelte top. Che dire ancora? Complimenti davvero! PS per fare tale esperienza, bisogna prenotare una settimana prima. Non perdete tempo a chiamare, sperando nel colpo di fortuna...

07/12/2025Wer hier ein typisches Tessiner Grotto erwartet liegt fehl am Platz. Es gibt kein Risotto. keine Polenta. keine tessiner Würste und auch ein Ossobuco sucht man vergebens. Dafür gibt es ein deutschweizer Cordonbleu mit Frites aus der Fritteuse keine Bratkartoffeln und Gemüse aus der Dose. Eine auf die schnelle ausgerichtete Küche die mehr einem Fast Food gleicht. Schade für das schöne Lokal. Ich bin enttauescht

Aunque este un poco alejado del centro de Milán, es una caminata agradable de unos 25 -30min desde el Duomo; si prefieres metro Porta Romana queda a unos 3min a pie Posibilidad de reserva online y recomendado hacerlo
